# Hoardless

> Hoardless is a native macOS disk space analyzer and cleaner. It scans your Mac into a local index, shows where every byte is (per folder, per app, per date added), finds developer caches and files you no longer use, and previews every removal before anything moves to the Trash. - Safety: every cleanup is a plan you read first, sorted into Auto (rebuilt by its tool), Confirm (you tick each item) and Destructive (spells out the loss, asks again). Items go to the Trash by default and are recorded in an undo log. Permanent delete is opt-in.
- Privacy: reads file names, sizes and dates, not file contents. The only data sent off the Mac is license activation (key and a one-way machine hash). No analytics or tracking.
- Distribution: direct download, signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple. Not on the Mac App Store, because the App Store sandbox cannot see app data sprawl, Mail, Messages or iOS backups, or run cache cleanup commands.
- For AI agents: a local, read-only MCP server (`hoardless-mcp`, 16 tools) lets Claude Code, Claude, Cursor, Codex, VS Code, Windsurf, Zed and Raycast answer disk usage questions and build reclaim previews. It can start a scan but can never delete anything.

Not a fit: Windows or Linux; iPhone or iPad storage; people who want fully automatic one-click cleaning without reviewing it; malware removal, RAM "boosters" or other system "optimization" (Hoardless does not do these).
